Champoluc, Italy

Champoluc is the largest resort in the Monterosa region, a huge ski area also known as Italy’s very own “Three Valleys”. Surrounded by wooded terrain and based at one end of the Monterosa ski area (with Gressoney in the central valley and Alagna on the far side), Champoluc boasts spectacular views of the region’s dramatic glaciers and peaks. Those based here have access to the whole Monterosa circuit; renowned in particular for its uncrowded slopes and fabulous off-piste terrain.

A bit of a boring town with few shops and restaurants but the ski area is great, well prepped, easy to find your way around, steep trails and easy ones, just a really great place if you are here for skiing and not much addicted to crazy afterski and skiboot-parties.

Champoluc is my first trip on ski, where I found my self all alone on the slope, and there were no queues at the lifts, is was just fantastic. The skirarea is fantastic, not the biggest – but big enough. The town was no so exciting, but we stayed at a mountain hotel. It was great to ski ind and out of the hotel.

What a wonderful and uncrowded place! We where there during Easter, the weather was great but what was really amazing was the fact there we had the area almost completely to ourselves! I have never visited any resorts with so few people!! We were skiing on trails completely alone – it was crazy but so much fun. I will definitely come back! The town itself is rather dull and you won’t find many shops or restaurants. We didn’t mind though, as we where staying on a mountain hotel and hardly ever went down there anyway.
