Kitzbühel, Austria

Kitzbühel ski area is undoubtedly one of the most popular ski resorts in the world and several times been voted the “best ski resort in the world”. In downhill ski racing, the Streif, is regarded as the ultimate challenge because of the diversity of its terrain. All the elements of a classic downhill course can be found on the Streif, high speed breathtaking jumps, steep slopes, flat out gliding sections, curves, compressions, spectacular bumps and even a short uphill section just before the Seidlalm jump.

However beware of the low altitude of the area. The town stands at 800m and the top lift at 2,000m – this can be troublesome in terms of adequate snow coverage.

It’s too hot… 8-10 degrees start March and raining – that’s just not fun when you are here to ski 🙁 Right now I am missing another 1000 m on the mountains.

Great place but too low to be snow-sure. I would come back but only last minute booking when I know there is enough snow and cold enough. Worlds best – maybe not, but definitely very good!
