Les 2 Alpes, France

Its position high up in the Oisans mountain range makes Les 2 Alpes one of the highest skiable summits. One spectacular run starts from the glacier at 3,600 m and descends 2,300 m to the village of Mont de Lans at an altitude of 1,300 m – without skiers once needing to use a ski lift. Because of the glacier that rises to 3,600 metres’ altitude, Les 2 Alpes ski area is always guaranteed good snow coverage and a nice, long season. It is a friendly resort for snowboarders and for freestylers in general with one of the finest snowparks in France. The park has three lifts serving different lines for all standards of technique, there is a halfpipe, a superpipe and boarder/skicross course.

Over the years the resort has been critized for blowing up the actual pistekilometers and the official 220 km has been measured by unofficial sources to a more realistic 135-140 km. However plans to connect Les 2 Alpes and Alpe d’Huez in 2018 will, no matter official piste kilometers, give skiers access to a very large, well-groomed and well functioning ski paradise.

Pleasantly surprised about this area – I didn’t have any expectations but it proved to be very well suited for especially families with different levels of expertise. You have many easy runs, but can also find more challenging decent – I really liked the combination. Go here if you want be in an area that suits all. Thumbs up for Les2Alpes 🙂
