Schwarzer Adler – St. Anton, Austria

Cosy, top-quality hotel

In the middle of St. Anton, just a 5 min walk from the main gondola, you will find the beautiful and charming, 4-star hotel Schwarzer Adler. From the second you step in, you will notice there is a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere everywhere in the hotel.

In the cosy lounge and bar area, you can enjoy refreshments in the afternoon when coming back from a long day on the slopes. For hotel guests, the buffet of various cakes, fruits, coffee, juice etc. is for free. This recurring afternoon event is really where you will notice how relaxed and laidback this hotel is, despite its 4-star status. People will sit around the fireplace, in their ski clothing, completely informal and just enjoying the atmosphere and chatting with one another about their day in the snow.

When retiring to your room, to change for dinner, even the smallest rooms offers a spacious, contemporary decor with wonderful beds and a sitting area that really makes you feel at home.

If you feel for a spa treatment, or just relax in the pool area, the Schwarzer Adler offer very up to date facilities and the heated, outdoor roof pool, is really astonishing. We went here every afternoon, simply because it was the ultimate combination of relaxing and pampering our eyes with magnificent views of the mountains. Some days, snowflakes came tumbling down over us, which only made the experience even greater.

In the evening, you will go to the restaurant to enjoy a five-course, Michelin-worthy dinner which is included in your half-board package. Even though the food was truly delicious, what really made a difference, was our waitress – she was there every evening (and every morning), making us feel extremely welcome and she managed to create a special, personal connection to every table she was servicing. To top it off, the wines were exquisite – especially the fantastic St-Émilion Grand Cru Classé 2002 from Chateau Figeac – this is a top wine, served in the fantastic decanter Black Mamba, but without trying to signal upper class or being snobbish.

Everything at the Schwarzer Adler is so down to earth, unpretentious, but at the same time high quality, and feel-good all over. This is definitely not our last visit and we will recommend the hotel to anyone, who is looking for a great stay in St. Anton.

Is the spa and outdoor pool free for guest on the hotel or something you need to buy as an additional “ticket”? I have mixed experience with hotels “offering” only spa/pool acces but once you get there, there is an additional cost… 🙁

Was here last season (with lots of snow!) There are many nice places in St Anton but Schwarter adler is one of the better places. Downsides to me is that there is a bit too far to walk to the gondola – I prefer as close to ski in/out as possible. but the hotel is really cosy.

uh we was at this hotel a few years ago and I can agree – it is really nice and spot on with the staff there – they were really friendly. We noticed all the decanters too 🙂 wow they had a million of them in different forms but all really cool. Unfortunately they are really expensive.

anyway – really cool hotel and the spa and pool, uhm love it!

    cheers
